How the Flavors of Food Affect Your Mind, Body and Spirit

Food is therapeutic.  It has properties that give you clarity, focus, emotional harmony, good health, vitality, and a strong spiritual connection.  It even reverses disease when you use it appropriately.  Food is medicine; however, one man’s nutritional remedy can be poison to another.  Scientific nutrition fails to understand the difference.

Think of the big picture of your life. You pay a high cost for managing your health problems, including loss of vitality, creativity, and productivity. If you’d like to spend less time and money on doctor visits and have less reliance on prescription drugs you’ll benefit by learning food energetics to create a healthy mind and body.

In our modern information age our relationship with food has resulted in much confusion, as evidenced by the many dietary trends that espouse their plan to be the ideal way of eating for everyone, regardless of personal condition. High protein, raw foods, low carb, blood type eating, and other fads have their limits.

Many of these trends conflict with each other, and each is limited by a narrow and fixed view.  Their ideologies differ, but their principle is the same–everyone should eat according to the same rules.  A perfect diet that will insure good health does not exist. There is no one way of eating that will bring everyone health and happiness.  Not everyone benefits equally from foods that contain the same measure of nutrients. The best foods for you are determined by your constitution, condition, age, lifestyle, emotions, climate, and the seasons.

Following the popular trend of the day designed by someone who knows nothing about you will not bring long term health and happiness.

In many modalities of alternative health and in Western medicine, dietary advice is given in a standardized way without regard for individual differences.  There is a more accurate method to determine your dietary needs.

Traditional Chinese Medicine is thousands of years old and is energy based medicine.  It offers an accurate dimension to food analysis that classifies food and disease according to simple patterns.  TCM understands the ways specific foods, herbs, and cooking methods affect different types of people and ailments.

Nutritional science is relatively young and has failed to take valuable cues from the wisdom of traditional healing arts. For example, scientific nutrition treats obesity with low-fat, low-calorie foods, many of which are chemically processed or, worse yet, concocted of chemicals in a flavor factory.  According to scientific principles all foods that are within quantitative caloric and nutrient guidelines have the same effects. Those foods are considered healthy by Western science even when they leave you irritable, unsatisfied, tired, and with cravings.  Many of these foods create excess dampness, heat, or coldness in the body contributing to poor health.  These patterns are described in detail in this article.

In holistic energy nutrition it’s determined whether the person has hot, cold, damp, dry, excess or deficiency patterns.  Foods are recommended to dry dampness which eliminates bloating, puffiness, edema, and poor digestion.  If there is coldness, warming foods are given to stimulate metabolism back to normal.  Foods that cool down excess heat in the body will normalize weight.  Minimizing building foods and emphasizing healthy cleansing foods will eliminate excess weight.  This approach to obesity provides satisfaction from food, better energy, digestion, sleep, and restores health.

Food is energy, and its essence is far more than the sum of its nutrients.  All foods have characters that can be described, and specific energetic properties that surpass description and science.  This is more important than combination of nutrients for reversing imbalances and creating happiness.

Many traditional cultures have based their dietary philosophies on energy principles.  We’ve experienced a departure from this holistic, common sense approach to diet in favor of science and technology.  The results are evidenced by the growing numbers of sick, obese, and unhappy people.

Humans are made of energy or life force called qi, chi, ki, and prana in different cultures.  Traditional cultures knew of the existence and importance of energy and developed practices for enhancing health and correcting imbalances.  Modern day researchers discovered ways to measure and detect life energy using electric or magnet machines.

Different schools of thought agree that we are supported and sustained by an underlying flow of life energy.  When this flow is impeded, we become weak or sick; our emotions become disharmonious; our relationships, finances, work, and all areas of life suffer.  When the flow of energy is strengthened or cared for, we become stronger and healthier in every way.  When the flow stops, we die.

You receive subtle vibrational frequencies from everything you expose yourself to.  Your health and happiness are based on what you consume from everything in life.  Since you eat  2, 3, 4 or more times daily, your body/mind health are greatly impacted by food.

Demystifying Food as Energy

Food can be distinguished by its thermal properties, flavors, building or cleansing abilities, drying or moistening qualities, and how the food is prepared.  Choosing from these criteria can restore health, create balance, happiness, seasonal harmony, and free you to live the healthy life you were meant to live.  This is not new information.   Fortunately it is being revived.

According to traditional culinary wisdom, foods are warming, cooling, or neutral. Some people need the cooling, moistening properties of raw vegetables and fruits to maintain balance.  The health of others will seriously decline by including too many of them.

For example, the cooling quality of raw foods balances the heat and congestion resulting from years of eating excessive amounts of meat, cheese, fried and spicy foods and alcohol.  Some conditions caused by excessive heat in the body are high cholesterol, hypertension, heart disease, tension headaches, stroke, aggressive, angry behavior, and many others.

A diet high in raw fruits and vegetables encourages loss of body heat and production of fluids—perfect if you’re hot and dry.  If you are cold and damp, you need foods to reduce watery and mucus accumulations caused by too many raw foods, cow’s milk products, icy cold foods and drinks, sugar, and poor food combinations.

Symptoms from cold, damp foods include fixed joint pain, edema, hay fever, sinus infections, bloating, digestive and bowel problems, yeast and fungus, puffiness, edema, mental fuzziness, and difficulty losing weight.  Damp, mucus conditions are helped with drying foods such as parsnips, arugula, brussel sprouts, black beans, pumpkin seeds, trout, and others.

Dry patterns include blood sugar imbalances, some types of arthritis, dry cough, restlessness and anxiety, dry eyes, hair, skin, scalp and nails, constipation and other conditions.  They can be helped by adding moistening foods such as quinoa, millet, salmon, miso soup, beets, winter squash, pears, cantaloupe and others.

Spices are warming and fruits are cooling. Garlic and ginger, for example, warm you up while grapefruit and watermelon cool you down.

Specific foods can energetically calm the mind and emotions, and strengthen energy.  Whole, unprocessed grains cooked with unrefined sea salt and many vegetables are most beneficial.

Congested people need cleansing, depleting foods; deficient people need building and replenishing foods.

Food preparation affects its thermal properties. Fruits and vegetables are cooling and cleansing, and animal foods are warming and building.  Raw foods are more cooling than cooked foods. Cooking helps break down food structure making the nutrients more available which aids digestion. On a sweltering day, you’ll prefer a chilled barley and vegetable salad and sliced melon; on a cold winter day you’ll favor barley/vegetable/beef stew, and a warm apple crisp.

To create a more warming effect, cook with a little more good quality fat or oil, at higher temperatures, and for a longer period of time.  To make food more cooling, use less fat, more water, and shorter cooking time.

Fried, broiled, baked, fat-rich foods and spicy foods stimulate circulation and generate body heat.  Animal foods produce more heat in the body. You’ll benefit from these foods, cooking styles, and spices if you’re cold and deficient.  Signs of deficiency are anemia, weak adrenals, loose stools, gas and bloating, slow metabolism, and depression.

Cooking when angry, depressed, or experiencing any negative emotion puts that energy into the food and returns it to you when you eat it.  When you eat in restaurants, you are being nourished with the essence and character of the cook.  Understanding his health can help you know why you feel the way you feel.

How Flavors Affect Your Mind and Body

Did you know that eating certain flavors can help you restore physical, mental, and emotional health?  According to the system of flavors developed by traditional Chinese healers, the sour, bitter, sweet, pungent, and salty flavors are important. They each have specific healing properties.

You don’t need every flavor at every meal.  While it is desirable to have each flavor every day to maintain and good health and balanced weight, some imbalances benefit by emphasizing specific flavors.

Sour flavor is energetically astringent, contracting, and cooling.  It is useful for urinary dripping, excessive perspiration, hemorrhage, diarrhea, and hemorrhoids. Sour foods include lemon, lime, grapefruit, leeks, sauerkraut, vinegar, strawberries, rhubarb, raspberries, cranberries, and yogurt,

Bitter flavor is the most energetically cooling and drying.  It is useful for overweight, hot conditions, high blood pressure, headaches and cleaning the arteries of cholesterol and fat.  Bitters have antibiotic, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties and benefit those with bloating, gas, water retention, herpes, and other hot, damp conditions.

Lettuce, asparagus, parsley, arugula, broccoli, celery, collard greens, kale, dandelion greens, kohlrabi, scallions, watercress, amaranth, papaya, quinoa, rye, and oregano are classified as bitter.

Sweet flavor – There are full sweets and empty sweets.  Full sweets are energetically warming and harmonizing with a slowing, relaxing effect.  They moisten dry lungs; slow an overactive heart and mind; and calm aggressive emotions.  Whole, unprocessed grains, some meats, and many specific vegetables provide the full sweet flavor that you need.

Empty sweets burden digestion; make you overweight, tired and anxious; cause intense cravings, poor immunity, weak bones, colds, flu, restlessness, and worry.  All simple sugars are empty sweets, including fructose, honey, sucrose, and most fruits.

Pungent flavor has a stimulating energy which improves blood flow and circulation, dries congestion and keeps the lungs clear and open.  This flavor can help sluggish, overweight, lethargic conditions, and clear phlegm and mucous including bloating, puffiness, edema, respiratory infections.

Some common pungent foods are scallions, broccoli rabe, cabbage, onion, kale, leeks, horseradish, garlic, cinnamon, fennel, rosemary, turmeric, collard greens, celery, daikon, marjoram, and peppermint.

Salt has the most grounding and centering energy of all the flavors.  The right amount and quality can strengthen energy; build healthy bones, improve digestion; moisten dryness; detoxify poisons from poor quality foods; and enhance mental focus.  Salt is an important mineral and is vital to human life; however, there is great potential for its misuse.  Poor quality salt and too much of it creates the opposite effect.

Use a small pinch of unrefined sea salt in cooking only.  Avoid adding salt to the food on your plate.  Commercial salt is highly refined with chemicals; is 99.5% or more sodium chloride, with additions of anti-caking chemicals, potassium iodide, and sugar to stabilize the iodine.  Many common varieties of sea salt are highly refined and stripped of trace minerals.

Understanding the various flavors of foods can be a helpful guide in choosing appropriate foods for health and weight issues.  The same flavors or foods that, in moderation, help reverse certain conditions can cause discomfort, excess weight, and illness when eaten in excess.

Common Physical, Mental, Emotional Imbalances

The following are a few examples of conditions caused, to a large extent, by food.  They can be improved by educating yourself on food energetics and therapeutic properties, and learning to holistically evaluate your condition.  Unhappiness, disease, and mental/emotional problems are not random.  They are the effects of the many ways food transmutes energetically within you.

Heat in the liver is expressed as impatient, irritable, angry, even violent, behavior. Conditions such as dry eyes, constipation, headaches, insomnia, high blood pressure and menopause disorders can result.

Heat builds from prolonged consumption of caffeine and caffeine-like substances, including coffee, cocoa, colas, and chocolate; alcohol and other intoxicants; sugar, fatty, greasy foods; dairy, turkey, chips, and spicy hot foods.

Moodiness, mental rigidity, depression, and many health problems including skin, muscle, tendon, vision, and menstrual disorders are the effects of stagnant liver energy.  Overeating, late night eating, rich, greasy food, meats, cream, cheese, and eggs; hydrogenated fats, refined and rancid oils; chemicals in food and water; drugs; intoxicants; and highly processed foods are some causes of liver stagnation.

A scattered, confused mind and mental illness indicate energetic heart imbalances and manifest physically as hypertension, hyperthyroid, stroke, poor circulation, insomnia, and others.  Some food causes are stimulants such as coffee, alcohol, sugar, drugs; strong spices, excessive heat producing foods (meat, cheese and eggs); tobacco; and many drugs, both pharmaceutical and recreational.

Depression, sadness, negativity, anxiety and worry are related to deficient lung energy.  Physical indications are asthma, allergies, eczema, immune, digestive and other disorders.  These conditions are caused by mucus promoting foods such as dairy, alcohol, cold foods and beverages, coffee, too many hot, spicy foods, fried and greasy food, poor quality fats, and sugary foods

Energetically cold kidneys are characterized by low metabolic rate, weak adrenals, malaise, anemia, bone, teeth, and hair problems, and manifest emotionally as fear, phobias, isolation, and insecurity.  Some causes are icy cold foods and drinks; tropical fruits; excessive animal fat; toxins in food and water, intoxicants such as alcohol, marijuana, cocaine, coffee, tobacco; and heavy metals.

No food is good or bad.  It’s all cause and effect.  Determine the effects you want for your health and happiness.  Be open to a new perspective on food and health.  Make the effort to learn how food is energetically creating your physical, mental and emotional health.

The intuitive wisdom and commonsense of our ancestors has been traded for food technology, chemicals, and processed foods that in no way match the nutrition and life force of whole foods.

You can revive your innate wisdom about food and everything else.  How long it takes depends on your condition, what you’re choosing, and how you feel about those choices.  Small, consistent steps lead to big results.  In no time you’ll be a healthier, happier version of yourself.

6 Myths of Eating Raw

Myth #1: You need to eat 100% raw foods and nothing else in order to get the benefits of the raw food diet.

For most people who are eating a diet high in processed and fast foods, any increase in fresh, raw, and organic foods is beneficial. Simple changes such as eating fruit for breakfast instead of pancakes or sausage will improve your health exponentially. Eating a salad for lunch will give you more energy than a hamburger, soda and fries. In order to get all of the benefits of the raw lifestyle, you do need to eat mostly raw foods, about 90-95% of your food intake. A happy medium that a lot of people adopt is the 80-20 Lifestyle. Eating 80% plant based, raw, organic foods and no more than 20% cooked meals including animal based and cooked foods if you like.

Myth #2: Everything you eat on the raw foods diet will be cold.

As long as the internal temperature of the food is 104 degrees Fahrenheit or lower, it still has vital living nutrients and sustenance. Anything over this temperature, you might as well just cook it. This means that dehydrating foods at temperatures below 104 and warming soups up on a coffee warming plate are still acceptable practices.

Myth #3: The raw food diet consists of only raw fruits and vegetables.

A raw food diet consists of fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts, nut “milks”, sprouted grains, seaweeds and juices are all included on a raw diet, as well as some fermented and processed foods such as raw soy sauce, kimchee, miso, raw nut butters and cold pressed raw oils.

Myth #4: The raw food diet is more expensive than other diets.

Any diet can be more or less expensive, depending on your tastes. Certain pre-made raw items can be rather expensive, but some of the best deals will be found in the produce section of your grocery store. Apples, bananas, salad greens and many vegetables are all a bargain compared to steak and lobster.

Myth #5: You will have to eat all your meals at home when on the raw food diet.

More and more raw food restaurants are popping up around the country! Most big cities, including Los Angeles, Chicago and New York have one or even more raw food restaurants, and many vegetarian and vegan restaurants also cater to the raw crowd. Salads and fruit smoothies can be found many places – just bring your own raw dressing, or ask for oil and vinegar.

Myth #6: You will spend all your time in the kitchen chopping vegetables and dehydrating foods for hours on end.

Well, you could. But who wants to do that? Salads, smoothies and many raw soups are quick to prepare. Realizing that many people get frustrated with complex recipes, I’ve selected and created the raw food recipes on this site precisely because they don’t require fancy and expensive equipment and hours of preparation time. That being said, investing in a food processor will save you many hours of chopping and grating. If you’re serious about raw foods, I recommend you at least invest in a blender and a food processor. You may find that eventually you will want to purchase a dehydrator and a juicer as well.

10 Keys to Raising Your Vibration

Personal-Vibration-1

The time has come for all of us here on Earth to choose what comes next. In order to evolve we must all raise our vibrations and expand our consciousness’ beyond the current definitions and limitations of this reality. To do this there are some definite things that have been proven to get an individual going in the desired direction.

Truth.

Accept the truth inside of you and around you. Whatever you’re afraid to accept brings you down lower and lower. The first key to raising the vibration you emit is Truth. Lies bring vibration down.

Speak the truth, especially if it hurts. If you find honesty is challenging for you, it may be because you haven’t been honest enough with yourself yet. The lies you tell others are shadowed by the lies you have told yourself. The more you accept and speak the truth, the higher your vibration rises. Raise your vibration by gradually exposing and destroying of the itsy-bitsy pieces of falsehood from your life and environment. This could take some time. As you raise your vibration, honesty will become a natural part of your life.

Yes, there may be some residual effects and consequences that will have to be faced but that is a price that must be paid. Short-term fix-it lies compared to the living life honestly and openly. It’s so much better and less stressful to be yourself and allow others to do the same. Not everyone will appreciate your truth, especially if they have known nothing of you except your lies, but that won’t matter once you’ve accepted and fully appreciate yourself.

Courage.

Courage raises your vibration. Cowardice brings your vibration epicly down. Courage is the guard between unconscious growth and conscious growth. Life will keep throwing problems at you as long as you remain on the unconscious side. Until you step up and take charge of your life, nothing will change. When you face your fears, the fear disappear, and problems and issues become opportunities. But when you run from your fears, they only grow.

Whatever you fear, you must face, period. The more fears you face, the higher your vibration rises. As you master this within yourself, eventually courage becomes unnecessary.
Once you’ve developed the courage to face anything life throws at you, you stop emitting fear-based vibrations into the Universe so this is no longer the experience life sends back. This is why courage is the brink between unconscious growth and conscious growth.

The mastery of courage grants the power to decide how you’ll grow instead of being a “mark” or victim of the will of fate.

Compassion

Compassion and Love raise your vibration. Cruelty brings you and those around you down.

Become more aware of cruelty by looking for signs of unconscious cruelty and disconnection in your life. This can be challenging since it also requires courage. We often resist facing our own cruelty, but it’s always there just waiting to be uncovered and dispatched.

Compassion is the roots of unconditional love, the acknowledgement and feeling connectedness with everything that exists. Do you feel connected to yourself? To others? To animals? To all living things? To everything that exists? The more you develop this connection, the higher your vibration and more conscious you will become.

Desire

Desire raises your vibration while apathy lowers it. When you are clear about what you want, such as goals you’ve set for yourself, you raise your vibration to one that is more open to that which you desire. This clarity focuses your mind and gives you the power to think and act intelligently towards your desires. This can be felt whenever you think about something you definitely want.

On the other hand, when your desire is unclear, your vibration is all over the place. When your thoughts lack focus and direction, you just spin your wheels.

Strive to become crystal clear about what you truly desire, and your vibration will raise in that direction.

Attention

Attention raises your vibration, distraction lowers your vibration. Focusing on improving your ability to concentrate on one thing at a time will make you more conscious. Pick up a rock or sit and observe a tree or plant and give it your complete attention, and notice what happens. But allow your mind to be riddled with distractions, and your consciousness will sink. A distracted mind is a powerless mind.

Meditation is a terrific way to practice holding your attention and concentration. Meditation is simple to learn and practice, but can take a lifetime to master. Check out more on meditation here.

Knowledge

Knowledge raises your vibration, while ignorance lowers it.

The most important thing to know is yourself. Take the time to think deeply about your life, and use a journal or notebook to record your thoughts. Ask questions to which you don’t know the answer, and then search for those answers. Look around you and soak up knowledge like a sponge however you can. Interact with your environment with a sense of curiosity and wonder.  Push your own boundaries of comfort and test your resources and resourcefulness. Study it. Learn from it. Experiment with it.

Strive to understand your reality, your role in it, and what your options are. The more accurate your understanding about reality is, the higher your vibration will become.

Reason

Reason and Logic raise your vibration. Irrationality not only lowers your vibration but it’s after effects can last a lifetime.

Logic and reason lend structure and substance to thought. The great challenge we face is avoiding false assumptions. One lone false assumption can alter a lifetime of otherwise logical conclusions. So challenge everything you believe, and stay open to the possibility that things aren’t alwasys as they seem on the surface.

High Vibrationsyellow-dancer1

Those with higher than usual vibration naturally raise yours. People with low vibrations will bring you and your vibration down.

By consciously raising your vibration, you’ll attract others with high or similar vibrations. Seek these high vibratory and creative individuals out and talk to them, ask questions, and enjoy their presence. Allow their ideas and awareness to infect you, inspire you, and you’ll find yourself expanding in all directions. You’ll become more honest, more courageous, more compassionate, and knowledgeable just by being around certain people.

Spend time with people at a lower vibrations and you’ll gradually sink to their level. Their thoughts will infect you as well, causing you to become more dishonest, more fearful, more apathetic, etc.

Strive to find a balance between spending time with those who raise your vibration vs. spending time with those you can help. Learn from those who are a little more awake or have higher vibration level, and help those who are desire to become more than they think they are. In this manner you serve the highest good of all, raising not only your own vibration but the vibration of everything everywhere.

Energy

Energy raises your vibration. Dis-eases of any kind lowers it.

Taking care of your body keeps your vibration at a basic level of health. Stepping into the flow of energy gives you an ongoing flow of vital life experiences. But without energy you starve your consciousness.

Eat with an awareness of what you’re taking in and absorbing. Exercise with an awareness of how you’re affecting your body and your mind. Before putting anything in your body, consider its effect on your energy, not just in the short term but in the long term as well.

Always ask yourself, “Will this produce energy or disease?”

Intention

The intention to raise your vibration will raises it. The intention to lower your vibration lowers it.

Raising your vibration and expanding your consciousness has the capacity to self-expand or self-contract, just as you have the capacity to grow or begin to decay. At every given moment, you have the freedom of choice. By honestly voicing the intention (or by offering the prayer), “I intend to become more conscious and aware,” you will initiate the expansion of your consciousness and your vibration will raise. Holding the intention to improve in any of the previous nine areas will produce a similar effect.

Alternatively, you are perfectly free to lower your consciousness at any time. While it’s unlikely you would choose to do so directly, you can achieve the same effect indirectly by lowering your performance in any of the areas above. By choosing to lie, to succumb to fear, to commit acts of cruelty, to remain ignorant, and so on, you put out the intention to lower your vibration. And in so doing, you initiate a process that will attract more falsehood, fear, cruelty, ignorance, etc. into your life.

Every thought you hold serves to either expand or contract your consciousness, raising or lowering your vibration. There is no neutral. So choose wisely!

Two Ways To Improve Your Relationships

Never on schedule, but always on time. I love this post from Power of PIES, not to mention what “PIES” is defined as. Check out what Joe has to say about improving relationships –

Power of PIES

One of the great means of peace while living on this earth is pleasant relationships. It’s not always easy. It is wonderful that God has blessed us with different personalities, gifts, and points of view. However, because of these differences, it is sometimes difficult to live in harmony.

I was doing some reading today about mind focus, and as I reflected, I was lead to two simple ways to enhance and improve any relationship.

Before I share, I will say that one word can make all the difference. That word is focus. Here’s how:

1. Focus on your best self. At this point you may ask, “aren’t we supposed to focus on the other person’s needs to help the relationship grow?” I will answer yes. However, you cannot give to someone else unless you are aware of your own positive qualities and strong points. When you focus on your own…

Eat

Why eat?

Is it for pleasure or lust?

What about energy and health?

Why eat, why cook or prepare something that we’ll have to clean up afterwards?

There are, after all, other ways to go about absorbing and transmitting energy. So why go through the pain of eating food-like things that they sell at grocery stores or quick markets? Why bother?

If you’ve made the decision to eat food, why eat food-like things when you could be eat actual food?

Huh? Actual food?

Yeah, actual food refers to foods that actually occur naturally in one place or another on the planet earth without any human contact at all. These foods have been cultivated and spread all over the world these days and we, thankfully, have the choice to grow these things or buy them where ever we can find them.

Too many people still think the things they are eating everyday is food. Food, by definition, is any nutritious substance that plants or animals eat, drink, or absorb in order to maintain life and growth.

Let’s break that down.

  • Nutritious Substance refers to elements necessary for growth, health, and good condition
  • Plants or Animals refers to most living things on planet earth, which if you’re reading this, you still are – Congratulations! Namaste =)
  • Eat, Drink, or Absorb refers to the most common forms of energy exchange that living things use to live and thrive.
  • Maintain Life and Growth refers to conditions that distinguish living things from inorganic matter, which includes but is not limited to; reproduction, cognitive thought at any level, and growth which is the process of developing or maturing physically, mentally, or spiritually.

As you can see, by definition, food is what living things (you and me) use to live. The things people are eating do the opposite of what food is supposed to do. The food-like matter societies across the globe have become accustomed to consuming, although they contain some level of usable energy, in fact, suppress life and growth. The processes and systems that imitation foods go through inhibit brain functions, promotes mental and physical disease, and sets the perfect stage for cancerous cells (that are already floating around inside of us) to group together and begin to cause issues that, for some, lead to death. Death because of what was thought to be food getting consumed over a number of years. For some, the number of years is a lifetime. For others, the number of years means a life that never even had a chance to live.

This is why some many people are going crazy about organic food these days. The word organic means of, relating to, or derived from living matter. Notice the word living?

The truth is the food-like things or inorganic matter that we’ve been fooled into eating is literally, bite by bite, killing us and generations to come.

Now we have genetically modified (gmo) or genetically engineered (ge) food-like things that have been “presumed” to be nutritious substances but are actually destroying our natural functions, not to mention, every living animal that eats ge foods eventually becomes sterile, some (like pigs fed gmo corn) become sterile a lot faster. You can talk or think about gmo’s all you want but the facts are the facts. If you haven’t seen it already, the documentary Genetic Roulette explains genetic engineering and what these things do inside of us.

What ever you have to do to get it in your head, it is essential to learn the facts about what you’re eating. It starts with simple steps like checking labels, shopping at local farmers markets instead of mass industry grocery stores, and growing your own food.

Checking Labels – this is pretty easy to do, especially now that a lot more smart phones and tablets are walking around with people. In the store with a package in your hand, Google search every ingredient on the ingredients list, where they come from, and what they do inside of our bodies. This simple step is huge and will raise your quality of life by leaps and bounds.

Shopping at Farmer’s Markets – The farmer’s markets in your area are mostly comprised of people that grow specialized selections of fruits and vegetables as well as eggs, and some times pet foods, and training.

Growing Your Own Food – Growing your own food is a time honored tradition that humans have practice for centuries. These days there are numerous ways to grow food no matter how much space, money or time you have to put into it. You can have something as simple as a few tower gardens that will provide so much food you’ll be sharing fresh fruits and vegetables with your family and friends. If you’re a DIYer, you could build a small aqua/aeroponic farm that produces enough food for you to open your own farmers market. If you enjoy getting your hands in the dirt and being out in nature as much as you can, you can turn your home into a food forest and create a self contained ecosystem in you yard.

Or

..continue eating food-like genetically engineered foods that will keep you in a perpetual state of death until your body can no longer sustain itself and your nature bodily functions begin to collapse on themselves leading to your actual death.

The choice is yours.

Below is some news about discoveries made in the last couple of years about genetically engineered foods and what they are actually doing inside of us.

Stop making presumptions, get educated, eat, and grow actual food.
