Choices & Choices

Every moment of every day, we are changing.

Right now, every cell in your body is going through a metamorphosis in which the new you is the end result.

You can do one of a variety things about this:

  1. completely ignore natural processes occurring within yourself and continue as you were
  2. observe what happens and play it safe with what you choose to be, have and do what you think you’re supposed to do
  3. take complete control and responsibility for what you choose to be, do, and have guiding your life in the direction of your specific design
  4. ?

Any one of these choices is usually a choice for life that people grow into and will stand and fight to the death for. The only thing anyone can do is make their choice and be a shining example of whatever it is one chooses to be. That is all we can do to help anyone, to guide our families and loved ones, to teach our friends and associates, to show our communities, to assist humanity. Doing this is something else… Nobody is perfect and most are battling with the best and worst of themselves all day long. Just know that the obstacles that may arise are not there to stop, they show up for you see how bad you want it. All you can do is all you can do.

But… you have to choose to.

You have to choose to shine. YOU have to choose to shine bright as a magnificent example of what you are. You are a star. Just like the stars we see shining in the night sky, we are going through a transition. The big secret everyone so inconveniently forgets to tell anyone is… you have to choose to shine your light.

Shine your light as bright as you can.

I get asked a lot, “what can I do about anything?” “What can I possibly do about all the crazy things going on in the world?” Its a loaded question, I know, but what do you do about it? The only thing you can do anything about is what you choose to be, do, and have. If you need an idea, here is where you can start…

Think.

ThinkPositive and negative thoughts are contagious.

We all affect the people around us in one way or another. This happens physically and subconsciously through our thoughts, feelings, and body language. People sense our energy, are affected by it, and vice versa.

Positive thoughts are the most important medicine one can take. Positive thoughts, words and attitudes bring out positive and happy moods and actions. When the mind is in a positive state, euphoric, creative, and loving chemicals are released into the blood creating more happiness and positivity. This the way of achievement, peace of mind and happiness.

Negative thoughts, words and attitudes, on the other hand, bring out negative and depressing moods and actions. When the mind is negative, poisonous emotional chemicals are released into the blood, which cause more unhappiness and negativity. This is the way to failure, frustration and disappointment.

One’s attitude and thought patterns don’t change overnight, some inner work is needed in order to turn the mind toward the positive. The power of thoughts is a universal power that is always shaping our lives. This shaping is usually done on the subconsciously level, but it is possible to make the process a conscious one. Practices you can adopt to facilitate a positive state of mind are:

  • read, think, or meditate about things that make you feel genuinely good, think about times in your life that were great and how those times made you feel
  • persuade yourself to persevere and continue to think, read, listen to, or watch positive messages for at least 30 minutes throughout the day
  • ignore what other people might say or think about you when they discover that you are changing the way you think
  • use imagination to visualize only favorable and beneficial situations
  • smile, even if you’re not happy – by smiling long enough, your brain will release a combination of “happy” chemicals educing a state of calmness and euphoria
  • once a negative thought enters your mind, you have to be aware of it, and endeavor to replace it with a constructive one – the negative thought will try again to enter your mind, and then, you have to replace it again with a positive one

At any given moment, there will be things that are desirable to focus on and things that are less enjoyable to focus on. We must choose to focus on that which promotes joy. Think of it like there are two pictures in front of you, and you can to choose to look at one of them, and disregard the other. Persistence will eventually teach your mind to think positively, and to ignore negative thoughts. In case you feel inner resistance and difficulties when replacing negative thoughts with positive ones, do not give up, but keep looking only at the beneficial, good and happy thoughts in your mind.

It doesn’t matter what your circumstances are at the present moment. Think positively, expect only favorable results and situations, and circumstances will change accordingly. You can transform the way your mind thinks the thoughts it creates. It will take some time for the changes to take place, but with focus and determination, they will.

But… you have to choose to.

People worldwide are getting more and more particular about what they’re eating because we are all starting to feel the effects of chemical laden, super processed, corn fed, and genetically modified foods that were staples of daily life for years. When you don’t feel good or even worse when you actually become sick because of the food being eaten on a daily basis, it is easy to start asking questions. But until then, it takes blind faith and determination to continue to eat actual food. Why does this matter?

What you eat determines what fuel your body has to create all these emotional chemicals and reactions that we went over above. If you’re full of artificial and acidic things and your mind is full negativity, your body will not be able to heal and maintain balance the way it was designed to.

A lot of people are finding out that the best foods they can eat are grown locally, grown organically, and sold in a reasonable manor to those that actually desire whole, healthy food. These foods are available in specialized shops and farmers markets, along with the big name grocers that span every corner in most communities in North America.

Get what you need however and wherever you can. If you truly desire to be healthy and think healthy, than you’ll find what you need. If you have a burning desire to eat food that is actually good for you, than you will spend your money on food that will help you reach your health goals. Those that create, find, or accept excuses as to why they think they can’t get healthy, won’t. The simple fact of the matter is, if you want to eat food that will fuel your life and help keep in a positive state, you can do just that.

But… you have to choose to.

The very best source of whole, organic foods is your very own garden! If you accept reasons why you can’t grow your own food, than that is of coarse your choice. If you are determined to grow your food, then every inch of free space and soil is up for grabs.

Think positive, eat actual food, and spend time meditating. These are key building blocks to staying in a positive and productive. There are plenty of other things you can do to keep yourself in an optimal state but this is a great start. Need help meditating? Watch the video below –

Grass!!! Wheat & Barley Grass – What, Why & How

Wheat & Barley Grass

Young cereal grasses — like wheat and barley grass — are recognized by their bright emerald green colors. At the early grass stage of their growth, wheat and barley are closer to vegetables than grains in their make up. It isn’t until the wheat and barley plants mature that gluten is formed which is why the young grass is so much better for you than anything made with cooked wheat or barley products.

Many people include barley or wheat grass in their diet because of the wide variety of benefits, such as prevention of cancer, lower blood pressure and cholesterol and an expedited immune system response.

The use of barley grass for medicinal purposes dates back to 7,000 BC, when records first show that the grass was grown as a crop. It was then used to treat a variety of sicknesses, including blood and liver problems; it is said that ancient gladiators chewed on the grass to boost energy and stamina before fights. The understanding of barley grass benefits has evolved and can now be found in several forms.

High concentrations of chlorophyll—the green pigment found in some plants that gives the green food group its name—acts much like human blood’s oxygen carrier, hemoglobin. Chlorophyll inhibits the growth of disease bacteria when introduced into the diet, and this effect may create a wide array of barley grass benefits. Barley grass does away with atoms with an odd number of electrons created through normal body functions that can cause damage to healthy cells.

The nutrient profiles of these grasses changes quickly as they grow. As the plant grows, the chlorophyll, protein and vitamin content of cereal grasses declines sharply and the level of cellulose (indigestible fiber) increases. Over a period of several months, the green leafy cereal grasses become amber waves of grain bearing the kernels we harvest to make into unhealthy inflammation causing flour we are all accustomed to.

Barley vs. Wheat Grass

Some claim that barley grass is easier on the digestive system than wheat grass. Barley grass is also said to contain an exceptionally high amount of “organic sodium” and is known to alleviate arthritis symptoms more effectively than wheat grass juice.

However, there is no evidence that barley grass is any better or worse than wheatgrass in terms of its likelihood of producing adverse effects, its nutritional properties, or its health effects.

There is very little nutritional difference between wheat grass and barley grass, although it is important to note that barley grass acts as a free radical scavenger that also reduces inflammation and pain, and wheat grass is richer in inflammation reducing antioxidants. It is also thought to be able to help the body attack cancer cells.

ImageYou can get these two cereal grasses in powder or tablet form. The dried grasses are a bit easier to handle than fresh, which must be juiced. However, fresh grass juice contains healthful enzymes not found in dried grass powder and is likely to be higher in just about every phytochemical found in the grass. This is why numerous healthy food and specialty store around the world now offer grass shots on their menus.

With that said, not everybody can go out and spend $2.50 (on average) for a 1 or 2 ounce shot of wheat grass whenever they want which is why so many people are resorting to the practice of growing the grass fresh for themselves.

The Wheat & Barley Grass is always greener… Where you grow it!

Growing wheat and barley grass is the easiest and most affordable way to keep plenty of the super green food on hand.

Growing wheat and barley grasses at home is pretty simple and can be mastered easily by anybody who cares enough to try it. The technique starts like many other sprouts and once the seeds begin to show signs of growth it’s time to hit the soil!

First, place seeds in a large bowl. Cover completely with cool water (60 to 70 degrees F). Stir the seeds around in the water to mix. Let soak for about 8 to 12 hours or overnight.

Next, drain the seeds. Use a mesh colander or any other fine strainer you may have to keep the seeds from draining through the holes of the strainer. Rinse the seeds with cool water and drain.

After that, put the seeds in direct sunlight or where the temperature is about 70 degrees F for anywhere from 8 to 12 hours.

Then, rinse and drain the seeds again. Set out for another 8 to 12 hours. Repeat this step at least one to three more times until the seeds have sprouted tiny roots approximately 1/8 to 1/4 inch long.

While your seeds are germinating, fill your seed trays half way with organic potting soil. Spread some azomite or another trace mineral (or worm castings or whatever vegan nutrients you want) over the soil and add another layer of organic soil. Use a tray that has drainage holes in the bottom. Water the soil thoroughly so it is soaking wet; if needed mix the water down into the soil with your hands or a spade.

Once the trays are prepped, spread your germinated seeds over the top of the soil. Spread as evenly as possible. Do not push the seeds down into the soil. Cover the tray with another seed tray (make sure the cover has drainage holes to allow for air circulation) or newspaper or even some bounty paper towel.

Put your grass sprouts in an area with low lighting and a temperature of around 70 degrees F. The cooler the better but longer growing times may be needed, if it’s too hot or humid, mold will grow easily around the base of the grass stems and within the root system.

Water the grass enough to keep the soil moist but not saturated, usually once or twice a day. Using a mister type spray bottle is a great way to evenly water the grass without wetting it down to much while still incorporating plenty of fresh air. Continue misting once a day once the seed roots have buried themselves in the soil.

Remove the tray top when the grass gets to about 1 to 2 inches tall, usually after 3 or 4

After about ten days or once the grass reaches about 7 to 8 inches, harvest as needed to juice or harvest it all and keep it in a green veggie bag in the fridge. Cut the grass right above the above the soil. The first harvest is always the most nutrient and flavor rich grass. Most people compost the soil and roots after harvesting but you can let it keep growing if you like. Two or three harvest are usually as good as it gets, any more after that and you’re just growing empty grass. days. Be sure to keep the tray in a well-lighted place and keep the soil moist.

Wheat & Barley grass Juice!!!

Once you’ve harvested your grass it’s time to get juicing! The best way to extract the vital juice from your young grass is with a wheat grass juicer like The Healthy Juicer. The Healthy Juicer is the most popular wheat grass juicer because it is compact and is one of the most inexpensive of the wheat grass juicers. This is the perfect juicer to have in addition to a regular juicer that doesn’t do leafy vegetables very well. The Healthy Juicer is portable, requires no electricity and is easily cleaned and stored without taking to much space in the cupboard. This juicer is known for being really efficient, easy to travel with and easy to clean and put together. Probably the best choice for most based on quality, price and ease of use.

Whatever reason you’ve decided to use wheat or barley grass, the benefits are numerous and your body will thank you sooner than later.

6 Myths of Eating Raw

Myth #1: You need to eat 100% raw foods and nothing else in order to get the benefits of the raw food diet.

For most people who are eating a diet high in processed and fast foods, any increase in fresh, raw, and organic foods is beneficial. Simple changes such as eating fruit for breakfast instead of pancakes or sausage will improve your health exponentially. Eating a salad for lunch will give you more energy than a hamburger, soda and fries. In order to get all of the benefits of the raw lifestyle, you do need to eat mostly raw foods, about 90-95% of your food intake. A happy medium that a lot of people adopt is the 80-20 Lifestyle. Eating 80% plant based, raw, organic foods and no more than 20% cooked meals including animal based and cooked foods if you like.

Myth #2: Everything you eat on the raw foods diet will be cold.

As long as the internal temperature of the food is 104 degrees Fahrenheit or lower, it still has vital living nutrients and sustenance. Anything over this temperature, you might as well just cook it. This means that dehydrating foods at temperatures below 104 and warming soups up on a coffee warming plate are still acceptable practices.

Myth #3: The raw food diet consists of only raw fruits and vegetables.

A raw food diet consists of fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts, nut “milks”, sprouted grains, seaweeds and juices are all included on a raw diet, as well as some fermented and processed foods such as raw soy sauce, kimchee, miso, raw nut butters and cold pressed raw oils.

Myth #4: The raw food diet is more expensive than other diets.

Any diet can be more or less expensive, depending on your tastes. Certain pre-made raw items can be rather expensive, but some of the best deals will be found in the produce section of your grocery store. Apples, bananas, salad greens and many vegetables are all a bargain compared to steak and lobster.

Myth #5: You will have to eat all your meals at home when on the raw food diet.

More and more raw food restaurants are popping up around the country! Most big cities, including Los Angeles, Chicago and New York have one or even more raw food restaurants, and many vegetarian and vegan restaurants also cater to the raw crowd. Salads and fruit smoothies can be found many places – just bring your own raw dressing, or ask for oil and vinegar.

Myth #6: You will spend all your time in the kitchen chopping vegetables and dehydrating foods for hours on end.

Well, you could. But who wants to do that? Salads, smoothies and many raw soups are quick to prepare. Realizing that many people get frustrated with complex recipes, I’ve selected and created the raw food recipes on this site precisely because they don’t require fancy and expensive equipment and hours of preparation time. That being said, investing in a food processor will save you many hours of chopping and grating. If you’re serious about raw foods, I recommend you at least invest in a blender and a food processor. You may find that eventually you will want to purchase a dehydrator and a juicer as well.

Eat

Why eat?

Is it for pleasure or lust?

What about energy and health?

Why eat, why cook or prepare something that we’ll have to clean up afterwards?

There are, after all, other ways to go about absorbing and transmitting energy. So why go through the pain of eating food-like things that they sell at grocery stores or quick markets? Why bother?

If you’ve made the decision to eat food, why eat food-like things when you could be eat actual food?

Huh? Actual food?

Yeah, actual food refers to foods that actually occur naturally in one place or another on the planet earth without any human contact at all. These foods have been cultivated and spread all over the world these days and we, thankfully, have the choice to grow these things or buy them where ever we can find them.

Too many people still think the things they are eating everyday is food. Food, by definition, is any nutritious substance that plants or animals eat, drink, or absorb in order to maintain life and growth.

Let’s break that down.

  • Nutritious Substance refers to elements necessary for growth, health, and good condition
  • Plants or Animals refers to most living things on planet earth, which if you’re reading this, you still are – Congratulations! Namaste =)
  • Eat, Drink, or Absorb refers to the most common forms of energy exchange that living things use to live and thrive.
  • Maintain Life and Growth refers to conditions that distinguish living things from inorganic matter, which includes but is not limited to; reproduction, cognitive thought at any level, and growth which is the process of developing or maturing physically, mentally, or spiritually.

As you can see, by definition, food is what living things (you and me) use to live. The things people are eating do the opposite of what food is supposed to do. The food-like matter societies across the globe have become accustomed to consuming, although they contain some level of usable energy, in fact, suppress life and growth. The processes and systems that imitation foods go through inhibit brain functions, promotes mental and physical disease, and sets the perfect stage for cancerous cells (that are already floating around inside of us) to group together and begin to cause issues that, for some, lead to death. Death because of what was thought to be food getting consumed over a number of years. For some, the number of years is a lifetime. For others, the number of years means a life that never even had a chance to live.

This is why some many people are going crazy about organic food these days. The word organic means of, relating to, or derived from living matter. Notice the word living?

The truth is the food-like things or inorganic matter that we’ve been fooled into eating is literally, bite by bite, killing us and generations to come.

Now we have genetically modified (gmo) or genetically engineered (ge) food-like things that have been “presumed” to be nutritious substances but are actually destroying our natural functions, not to mention, every living animal that eats ge foods eventually becomes sterile, some (like pigs fed gmo corn) become sterile a lot faster. You can talk or think about gmo’s all you want but the facts are the facts. If you haven’t seen it already, the documentary Genetic Roulette explains genetic engineering and what these things do inside of us.

What ever you have to do to get it in your head, it is essential to learn the facts about what you’re eating. It starts with simple steps like checking labels, shopping at local farmers markets instead of mass industry grocery stores, and growing your own food.

Checking Labels – this is pretty easy to do, especially now that a lot more smart phones and tablets are walking around with people. In the store with a package in your hand, Google search every ingredient on the ingredients list, where they come from, and what they do inside of our bodies. This simple step is huge and will raise your quality of life by leaps and bounds.

Shopping at Farmer’s Markets – The farmer’s markets in your area are mostly comprised of people that grow specialized selections of fruits and vegetables as well as eggs, and some times pet foods, and training.

Growing Your Own Food – Growing your own food is a time honored tradition that humans have practice for centuries. These days there are numerous ways to grow food no matter how much space, money or time you have to put into it. You can have something as simple as a few tower gardens that will provide so much food you’ll be sharing fresh fruits and vegetables with your family and friends. If you’re a DIYer, you could build a small aqua/aeroponic farm that produces enough food for you to open your own farmers market. If you enjoy getting your hands in the dirt and being out in nature as much as you can, you can turn your home into a food forest and create a self contained ecosystem in you yard.

Or

..continue eating food-like genetically engineered foods that will keep you in a perpetual state of death until your body can no longer sustain itself and your nature bodily functions begin to collapse on themselves leading to your actual death.

The choice is yours.

Below is some news about discoveries made in the last couple of years about genetically engineered foods and what they are actually doing inside of us.

Stop making presumptions, get educated, eat, and grow actual food.
